| Calling all tender hearts... |
Rarely have we come across a soul so gentle and kind who has been dealt a harsh hand by fate. Our plea is for a home for Ray, nicknamed Ray Ray, a gorgeous 4 yr. old boy, whether it be a foster home or a forever home. Ray was turned over to a local area vet by his owners because he was blind. Genetics dealt this blow--he was diagnosed with PRA--Progressive Retinal Atrophy, which is permanent. He was so neglected and emaciated and it took a while to get him up to par. Grrand accepted the challenge of committing to find him a wonderful home. It was discovered right before he came to us that he was suffering from kidney disease, with all causes ruled out, it was determined that his severe neglect and lack of water as a youngster caused this early onset of disease. Ray Ray will need a very special home who can accept the challenge of one who has no sight and caring for him for the time he has left. Our vet family has indicated that with care, Ray will have at the most 2 years left to grace us with his presence. He takes one oral medication and will need fluids, which is done in home and our vet family can easily train any possible home. A home local to Louisville is preferred so he can continue with his current vet family, but that is negotiable and can be discussed with the prospective family and their vet.
With that being said, lets talk about the magnanimous, but subtle personality that is Ray Ray. Have no doubts that he will inch his way into your heart immediately--just look at that face!! He is fully housetrained and trustworthy indoors. Ray needs a home where there are no stairs to reach outdoors. He can get up a set of stairs, but he cannot go down, so a home where he will not need to traverse a set of stairs is needed. He would adore a canine sibling to help him learn the ropes in a new home. He will need some extra effort helping him feel confident on lead. Ray Ray would flourish in a home that can provide a calm, clutter free, and easy going environment as he can be overwhelmed by too much activity. He is content to be by your side wherever you are and wants to be touched and petted. He has learned to follow voice sounds well to navigate his surroundings and especially loves the freedom of outdoors where he can move more without the fear of running into things. He is very playful--you need a supply of stuffed toys--and loving and a true joy to be around.
We know his forever family is out there and needs Ray as much as he needs a family. After all, it's all about the love, both given and received and that is the highest blessing in life.

| Gabby is a real Golden-Hearted sweetheart... she is in Hospice care with her foster family |
GABBY #3 is a real
Golden-hearted sweetheart! She is very well-behaved, social, trusting,
smart, enjoys attention, walks nicely on-leash...just an all-around great
gal! Unfortunately, she has a lot of health-related issues, in addition to
her advanced age. Gabby came into GRRAND's care as a stray and, based on
her condition, appears to have been fending for herself for quite a while.
As you might expect, she is underweight. She has a wide-spread skin
infection that requires daily care with costly oral medications and topical
treatments. Those meds and treatments have helped to relieve Gabby of the
of the itchiness which caused her toscratch and bite at herself all over.
Gabby has mammary tumors and is umost likely unspayed. She may have spent a
lifetime having litter after litter. She also has a growth on her left eye
that causes irritation and requires an ointment application, as needed, for
inflammation. Her most serious issue is an abdominal mass. Surgery would
be ill-advised due to Gabby's advanced age, so her very long-term prognosis
without treatment is not good. It's so sad to say, but, Gabby has probably
had it pretty hard for most of her years on earth. And still, she's got
that will to survive and trust and love.
Now, Gabby is under GRRAND's care and is doing better, despite all of her
veterinary problems. She has been welcomed into a foster home that is
committed to giving her a loving, comfortable hospice for the remainder of
her life. Gabby seems to be enjoying her newfound foster family who give
her lots and lots of companionship and attention and she has the canine
friendship of the three resident dogs -- Golden's Sonny & Calvin, both
GRRAND Adoptees, and Spaniel-Beagle mix Annie. If you can help to cover
GRRAND's significant expenses related to providing Gabby the care she needs
and deserves, your donation would be most sincerely appreciated |
